The Board of Directors introduces Karon Hammond as the new Head of School for St. Mark's Episcopal Day School, beginning on July 1, 2018. She will succeed our current Head of School, Anne Wingler, who is retiring after serving in this role for five years. Anne has been a part of the St. Mark’s community since 1989, first as a parent, next as an assistant teacher, and then as a lead teacher. Anne leaves a strong legacy at the Day School.

Karon was selected by the Head of School search committee, consisting of board members, teachers, parishioners and parents. The committee performed a thorough review and interview process to source and identify the most qualified candidate for this position who could build on Anne Wingler's leadership. They sought a candidate who would ensure the safety and development of our children, who would serve as an operations manager and financial steward for the business, who would build a community with our parents and church, and who would create a positive work environment and act as a mentor to staff. The board of directors confirmed the committee's recommendation that Karon fulfilled all four facets of our Head of School job description.

Karon brings over 30 years of experience in early childhood education and a passion for working with young children, their families, and teachers. She has been a Director at two faith-based pre-schools, most recently at Butterfly Christian School in West Lake Hills before serving as an Educational Support Specialist with Goddard Systems, Inc.
